I pretty much checked out on Isis after Panopticon, but the early releases still crush.
There was a time that Milemarker was one of my absolute favorite bands. I always overlooked this song though. Its nearly eleven minutes long and there is no shouting, so I skipped it. But listening to it again (and again as it turns out) its every bit has heavy as anything the band ever did.

My love of this song predates my love of Springsteen and was probably my gateway to the Boss.
The first time I heard this band was at Michigan Fest in 2002. Everyone was waiting for the next band to set up, and then suddenly, in the middle of the crowd 3 guys just started playing and belting out an amazing cover of Prince’s When You Were Mine. A couple of songs later, they moved the stage, plugged in, and I was hooked.
This song is from an EP called Reservoir Songs. Five songs, all covers, all amazing.
